Brand Ambassador Anna Ross spotted in store
International Dressage Rider helps promote her favourite bedding in Devon shop
Equine shoppers at a local Devon country store were surprised and delighted to find that Horse & Hound columnist Anna Ross had popped into one of her local feed shops last weekend to talk to shoppers about her favourite bedding, Gower Granary’s chopped wheat straw.
Best known as an international dressage rider and coach, Anna began using the Welsh bedding for her horses in 2025 and soon after became an ambassador for the brand, which specialises in high quality, sustainable equine bedding and forage.
Anna uses the Gower Granary bedding at her successful yard near Tiverton, in Devon, where she coaches and produces dressage horses for the international market. She spent several hours chatting to local shoppers about her experience of working with the bedding, and showed them what it looked and felt like.
Vanessa Roberts, Equine Sales Advisor at Tuckers in Crediton, said: ‘It was great to have a local rider like Anna here, who uses Gower Granary bedding herself, to talk to the customers. It’s such a fabulous bedding and we are getting great feedback from all our customers who have moved over to it, since we became the first stockist in Devon. We opened a couple of bags to show customers both the wheat and the rape straw bedding, and these are still in store now, so we’d encourage people to come in and grab a handful and see what it’s like.’
Anna Ross said: “When I found out about Gower Granary, I loved their commitment to sustainability, and then when I tried their bedding I was an absolute convert. They are a great family-run, farm-based business and I’m delighted to help them promote their range. Since moving across to their bedding, the yard is now so much cleaner, as the bedding is virtually dust free, the horses’ feet are better as it’s so absorbent, the horses love it and the team find it so easy to clean out- plus the muck pile is so much smaller. I’m recommending it now to all my customers.”
Louisa Harry-Thomas, MD at Gower Granary, commented: “As a small but growing brand, to have a world-class competitor like Anna Ross recognize what we do is huge. We love working with her, especially as the dressage market offers huge potential for us. Our bedding is about as dust free as any on the market, making it ideal in particular for riders concerned about respiratory health.”
Anna has represented Great Britain for over 25 years, competing at some of the world’s most prestigious events, including the European Dressage Championships (where she was the highest-placed British rider, finishing 10th in 2007), Aachen CDIO, and London Olympia. She is a recipient of the British Equestrian Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dressage and the Davison Award at Olympia, and trained for five years with German Olympic Champion Ulla Salzgeber.
Gower Granary’s products are already trusted by horse owners across South Wales, and the brand is now expanding its distribution network into Gloucestershire, Somerset, Devon, and beyond. Bulk orders can be delivered directly to yards, and new stockists are welcome.
